- The Nocellara del Belice olive has round shape and a green intense colour, the pulp is soft and dense and it confers a fruity and delicate taste. It is cultivated in the surrounding territory in the city of Castelvetrano, sided by the Trinità Lake and the Selinunte Temples which have been protecting the cultivations for 2600 years.
The Mediterranean sea breeze promotes the growth of a vigorous plant and a solid olive.
As the tradition says, the Nocellara Olive is picked by hand because, especially as it concerns the table kind olives, these don't have to be stressed in order to guarantee the best quality.
It is the only product in the EU that has two DOP for the same variety; "Valle del Belice" for the extra virgin olive oil (GCUE L. 273 of the 21.08.04) and "Nocellara del Belice" for the table olive (GUCE L. 15 of the 21.01.98).
The Nocellara del Belice olives are destined to the use as an appetizer or a siding, their are picked by hand in September-October and the same day they're processed and preserved in order to maintain the best possible quality.
