These sausages are made from the meat of an indigenous breed of pigs, the so-called Cinta Senese. The meat of these pigs is much tastier than of the other races, as in the rearing and feeding of these animals, great emphasis is placed on high-quality forage.
The pigs are grown semi-wild, and thus live in the wild in woods and meadows. They are fed with flour, corn, barley and beans.
The meat of these pigs contains polyunsaturated fatty acids and also contain the important omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
The sausages from Cinta Senese meat has an intense flavor and a dark red color.
The "Cinta di Guido" together with fellow breeders form the consortium Consorzio di Tutela del suino Cinto Toscano DOP.
