In Sicily, on the 2nd of November the dead are commemorated. On the morning of the 2nd November the children look around in the house after the sweets that have been left by the ancestors for their descendants. Traditionally, marzipan fruits are hidden.
As simple as the ingredients of marzipan fruits are as elaborate is their processing. The carefully shaped and hand painted fruit look very real.
Unfortunately, Halloween has largely replaced this tradition. But here and there, there are still grandparents who hide the delicious marzipan fruits for their grandchildren.
On the positive side, the marzipan fruits are now no longer meant only for November the 2nd, but consumed during the whole year.
