South Tyrol Valle Isarco Kerner
DOC
Exposure: 810 m a.s.l.; sheltered slope facing south, located below the village of Fiè allo Sciliar; pebbly sandy soil with good water permeability; strong variations in temperature between day and night during the ripening phase; even 900 m a.s.l.; south-facing slope at Tiso in the Val di Funes; Kerner grows on volcanic rock and tuff (Andesite) and on a sandy gravelly soil with good water permeability; the famous Tiso geodes were also formed here.
Training system: Guyot 7,300 vines / ha
Yield: 55 hl / ha
Vinification: The ideal degree of ripeness is reached at the beginning of October. Then the grapes are harvested by hand. Then, the grapes are separated from the stalks and macerated for 8 hours in the press. The gentle pressing and natural clarification of the grape must give Kerner complex aromas. The fermentation is then carried out in the steel tank at a constant temperature of 18 ° C. The maturation of 6 months takes place on the fine lees before bottling in May.
Description of the wine: In the glass the Kerner is presented in a light straw yellow with green reflections. The scented notes are reminiscent of peaches, elderflowers and citrus fruits. Its taste convinces thanks to its complex structure, lively acidity and salty minerality.
Paired with: It goes well with light pasta dishes, risottos, fish variations and colorful salads.
Retention period: 5 years
Serving temperature: 10-12 ° C
