DESCRIPTION OF THE DRY VERDUZZO I CLIVI
The Verduzzo Secco de I Clivi is one of the four interpretations by Ferdinando Zanusso and his son Marco of native Friuli vines: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Malvasia and, in fact, Verduzzo. Through years of experimentation, father and son have managed to find a production philosophy capable of satisfying high quality standards, reflecting the character of the vines and the territory. The Verduzzo Friulano is a native grape of the region, capable of expressing itself at excellent levels especially when it is located in hilly areas.
The care and attention of I Clivi begins with the harvest of the best Verduzzo grapes, which is done manually, on vineyards over 70 years of age. The grapes that are not de-stemmed are pressed entirely to obtain a fresh and clear juice: the must. Subsequently, inside steel tanks, it is expected that the indigenous yeasts start fermentation and that the coarser lees decant, and then be eliminated. On the contrary, the finer lees are kept in suspension in the wine for six to eight months, in order to maintain the real character of the grape.
Verduzzo Secco de I Clivi, with a golden yellow mantle, has an extraordinary aromatic complexity, due to the ability of Ferdinando and Marco to be able to best interpret the qualities of this Friulian grape. On the nose the bouquet is studded with full and intense aromas such as honey and candied citron that blend with hints of sage and licorice. With an intense and soft sip, it leaves the mouth with a salty finish. Perfect wine when paired with any fish dish, such as spaghetti with seafood, able to withstand the aromatic majesty of this sincere interpretation of Verduzzo.
