DESCRIPTION OF THE SOMMELIER
Luigi Pira's Barolo "Margheria" is a classic version of the great red of the Langhe, produced with grapes from the Mar Hungary cru. The vineyard is located in the Serralunga d'Alba area, west of the village of Serralunga, almost on the border with the Castiglione Falletto area. According to the best tradition of Barolo di Serralunga, it is a wine with an important structure, the perfect expression of that particular synthesis of power and refined elegance, which only the great Nebbiolo is able to condense and express in a glass. Faithful to ancient customs, it ages for a long time in large barrels and gives a deep, rich and persistent sip.
The "Margheria" Barolo is produced by one of the historical names of the Serralunga d'Alba area. The Pira family has been cultivating Nebbiolo since the late nineteenth century and today manages 12 hectares of vineyards, half of which are located in some of the most renowned Additional Geographical Mentions in the Serralunga area: Marenca, Margheria and Vigna Rionda. The philosophy of the cellar has always remained faithful to tradition, with careful work in the vineyard and refinements in large barrels, without easy concessions to modernist drifts. Barolo Pira is appreciated by wine lovers precisely for its strictly classic, intense and austere face. It is a wine that must be waited for and that needs time to express its complete maturity and harmony.
Luigi Pira's Barolo "Marirla" comes from an old vineyard of about 50 years of age cultivated at an altitude of 340 meters, on limestone-clayey soils. Fermentation takes place in horizontal vats, with a maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. The wine ages for 24 months in 25-hectolitre barrels and ends the refinement in the bottle. In the glass it has a garnet red color. The bouquet offers aromas of small red fruits, delicate hints of soft spices, floral nuances, hints of undergrowth and leather. On the palate it denotes a remarkable structure, with a dense and lively tannic texture and an aromatically deep and complex mouth. The finish spreads out with a nice persistence towards a pleasantly fresh finish. Perfect expression of Serralunga, it is a Barolo for those who love the traditional style of Langhe wines.

Bouquet Intense and complex, with hints of black currant and rose, spicy hints of leather and fresh hay
