Tenuta di Ghizzano Nambrot IGT 2000
This wine is the result of Tenuta di Ghizzano researches. It was first made in 1996, using Merlot grapes, and has evolved over the years into a blend together with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, demonstrating the potency, warmth and character that our territory can express. It is named after the founder of the Venerosi family, whose name was Nambrot and who lived in 830.
Estate location: Municipality of Peccioli (Pisa) – Italy
Grape varieties: 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot
Alcohol: from 13.5% to 14% depending on the vintage
Total acidity: from 5.40 to 5.80 g/l depending on the vintage
Training system: Spurred cordon
Plant density per acre: 1,800 – 2,500 vines
Grape harvest: by hand with further bunch selection on sorting table before destalking
Pressing: with feet
Fermentation: with indigenous yeasts in open wood and/or concrete vats
Fermentation temperature: 28°/30° controlled
Maturing: 18 months in 225-litre new, second-use and third-use French oak casks
Annual production: from 9,000 to 12,000 750 ml bottles depending on the year
Organic certification: "Suolo e salute"
