A "vigneron's wine" and the expression of a family's history. Structure and character, elegance and curiosity, capable of competing with wines from all over the world. It is conceived like a Chateuneuf du Pape - it contains different varietals but does not lose its strong territorial connotation - and each vintage is made with a selection of the best grapes and barrels. A Sicilian red wine par excellence, its history and vertical tastings describe the specific characteristics of each vintage, and, to a degree, the history of Sicilian winemaking.
The historic San Lucio vineyard (planted in 1954) does not produce a sufficient quantity of grapes, and so 10 years ago we planted new vineyards with a selection of grapes (massal and clonal) on the hills near Case Grandi. The varietals that make up the 2010 vintage are Cabernet Franc (harvested at Cozzo delle Fosse) and Cabernet Sauvignon (harvested at Cozzo delle Ginestre). 18 months in 225-liter new French oak barrels. Our Super TASCA!
