Merk: Terre degli Svevi Re Manfredi
Manfredi Rosato - Basilicata IGT
This is a modern interpretation of the land and of its vine, Aglianico. The grapes come from the 6-hectare vineyard in the Commune of Maschito. Vinification takes places through maceration on the skins followed by bleeding of the noblest part of the must. When the typical pink coral-like colouring has been reached it is decanted cold like a white wine and allowed to ferment at low temperatures with a specific selection of yeasts. Its perfume is ample and recalls persimmon and bitter cherry. The flavour is fresh, mineral and full with an elegant spicy base.
The grapes: 100% Aglianico del Vulture
The vineyard: grapes are obtained from a 6-hectare vineyard located on hillside lands 500 metres a.s.l. on soils of prevalently volcanic origin in the Commune of Maschito (a zone deemed to be among the best in Vulture). The vines are 50-year-old plantings trained using the guyot system.
The wine: its luminous crystalline colour recalls corals while the bouquet is ample and complex with dominant notes of strawberry, raspberry and bitter cherry and hints of vanilla and thyme. The wine has a striking personality with an elegant spicy aftertaste. With the 2010 vintage the sugar residue was reduced slightly compared to previous years in order to endow greater freshness, minerality and flavour.
Analytical data: alcohol 13.06% vol.; total acidity 5.61 g/l; pH 3.3; sugars 7.51 g/l;
Ideal conservation: 2-3 years in bottles laid on their sides in the dark.
Serving temperature: 8-10°C
Food pairings: barbecued fish, soups and starters, white meats and soft cheeses.
