LA MONELLA 2000 MAGNUM - BRAIDA
Giacomo Bologna’s father used to select in the cellar the most rebellious
and exuberant Barbera, calling it “La Monella” (cheeky girl) which was renowned for its characteristic and irrepressible fizzyness.
APPELLATION:
Barbera del Monferrato Frizzante d.o.c.
VARIETY:
Barbera.
VINEYARD:
grapes from several sites, young vines, with an average density of 5000 plants per hectare.
VINIFICATION:
Vinification-maceration for 10 days.
MATURATION:
Aged for at least 4 months in stainless steel tanks with the ‘presa di spuma’ (foam formation) in pressure tanks. Additional maturation in bottle for 2 months.
CHARACTERISTICS:
Intense violet ruby red colour, lively froth, slightly sparkling.
FLAVOUR:
Fragrant on the nose, explosive and winy, with intense hints of red fruit and bracing sour cherry. Extraordinarily lively taste, very fresh, “vivacious and irrepressible”, good body and soft texture.
PAIRING:
This Barbera goes well with cold meat, pasta dishes and spicy stews. In particular perfect with boiled meat, mixed grills, roasts, red meat stews and delicate fowl.
To be drunk young, as soon as it is uncorked, fresh from the cellar. Serve at 10-12 °C in spring- summer, 18 °C in autumn-winter.
